Leading the Way in Hemp Advocacy
Meet the Alabama Wellness Collective
The Alabama Wellness Collective is a coalition of passionate, experienced hemp business owners and advocates united to protect access to safe, legal, and effective hemp-derived products across our state. We represent a wide range of communities and business models — from boutique apothecaries to regional chains — but we stand together with one mission: defending plant-based wellness in Alabama.
Jenni Otwell is the owner of Magic City Organics in Birmingham, one of Alabama’s leading destinations for premium hemp and wellness products. She has been a long-time advocate for cannabis reform, consumer education, and industry standards that work for everyone.
Payne Baker is an attorney and owner of Weatherford 1814, a hemp company rooted in central Alabama. He brings legal insight and firsthand business experience to the collective’s strategic efforts.
Charlie DeCalle owns Dry Creek Hemp, a farm and brand focused on high-quality, small-batch hemp production. Charlie’s commitment to local sourcing and product transparency helps drive our values forward.
Joe Resha owns Avondale Apothecary in Birmingham, a canna lounge & retail store known for hemp offerings and community-centered events. They help guide our financial operations and local engagement efforts.
Ahmed Alsabahi is the owner of OG Puff, a multi-location hemp retail chain with nine stores across the Birmingham metro area. Ahmed plays a critical role in industry outreach and ensures that both urban and suburban retailers have a voice in this fight.
